What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- EE Issue Triage & Field Debug
- Serve as the primary hands-on engineer in the field, leading the investigation of EE/system/software issues during vehicle development.
- Perform on-vehicle diagnostics, log capture, and signal tracing using tools like CANalyzer, INCA, ODIS, UDS, and Ethernet sniffers.
- Reproduce issues, identify initial root cause hypotheses, and implement or propose temporary workarounds.
- Cross-Functional Debug & Communication
- Act as a technical bridge between validation teams, integration teams, and central engineering functions.
- Coordinate with software, systems, and EE domain teams to drive issue resolution and ensure rapid response loops.
- Prioritize and escalate blockers based on severity and program impact, enabling vehicle readiness for testing milestones.
- Issue Management & Documentation
- Track and manage all issues in JIRA, ensuring accurate documentation of symptoms, logs, reproduction steps, and status.
- Write clear technical reports, debug summaries, and issue debriefs for leadership and engineering stakeholders.
- Participate in root cause reviews, fix validation, and regression planning.
- Fleet Support & Readiness
- Ensure EE systems are functional across the development fleet to support testing campaigns (including ADAS, Infotainment, BCM, Powertrain, etc.).
- Support vehicle software updates, configuration tracking, and interface with vehicle release processes.
- Monitor fleet health and report recurring or systemic issues to engineering leadership.
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI.
- The responsibilities of this role require attendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
- Travel: This role requires extensive ability to travel domestically and internationally. Passport required.

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 12+ years of experience in EE/system validation, vehicle integration, or diagnostics.
- Proven hands-on experience working directly on vehicles, preferably during development, testing, or validation phases.
- Strong understanding of vehicle EE systems, CAN/LIN/Ethernet protocols, ECU communication, and system interactions.
- Skilled in diagnostic and logging tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, INCA, UDS tools, ODIS, or equivalents.
- Must be proficient in using JIRA for issue management, including triage, updates, and resolution tracking.
