JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, this role is responsible for developing, designing, and configuring systems to automate processes for testing software created or supported by the IT department at Step Up for Students. The position involves two key areas: Quality Automation and Quality Build Management.

In the Quality Automation aspect, the Engineer will include developing, executing, and maintaining an automated test suite using established tools and practices. The Engineer will lead automation development activities, integrate test suites into the test management system, and assist with manual testing when needed to meet deliverables.

For Quality Build Management, the Engineer will collaborate closely with the development team to manage code merging, branching, and transitioning through environments while ensuring quality standards. The Engineer will also focus on ensuring that sufficient testing is incorporated into the build management process. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support team objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
◦ Architect, develop and maintain Step Up For Students automation and performance, load, and volume testing solutions.
◦ Lead the testing of new features and implementations of new test technologies and frameworks.
◦ Develop detailed testing approaches and plans for specific test areas or overall plans for teams.
◦ Design test strategies and test cases for complex systems and execute various types of testing.
◦ Evaluate manual test cases to determine feasibility for automation; work with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) to prep/update test cases accordingly.
◦ Drive software test engineering best practices and strategies.
◦ Support areas outside of functional automation such as API testing or performance, load, volume, and security testing.
◦ Apply testing techniques and methodologies such as white and black box testing, equivalence class partitioning, pairwise, state transition, boundary value and decision tables.
◦ Write and implement automated unit, system, and integration tests.
◦ Build an automated regression suite for our multiple outward facing websites and internal applications.
◦ Work with Agile methodologies and support iterative development cycles.
◦ Develop custom test automation functions and classes for use within various application interfaces.
◦ Generate test data as required for automation scripts.
◦ Set priorities and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
◦ Educate other team members on the automated aspect of testing.
◦ Produces status reports and quality metrics. Quality Build & Release Management.
◦ Administer and maintain source code control environment. Utilize Jenkins and Git for
◦ deployment and to move towards CI/CD.
◦ Administer and maintain defect and enhancement tracking environment. Document configuration management process for all platforms.
◦ Maintain documentation describing system requirements for all build systems.
◦ Execute 100% of all build processes required to create deployable artifacts for SDLC platforms outside the development organization.
◦ Develop, triage, debug, and maintain build tools. Communicate and work with development and test teams to resolve build related issues in a high priority manner.
◦ Generate reports nightly\on demand build reports for all build configurations and supported teams.
◦ Implement repeatable processes for defect-free software deployment.
◦ Execute 100% of all software deployments.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
◦ Demonstrated success and a proven track record of professional/life experience in specific job functions, projects, industries or military service can substitute for professional experience and/or formal education requirements.
◦ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or an Associate Degree and two years of work experience.
◦ 5+ years of experience working with enterprise-wide software solutions.
◦ 4+ years of experience utilizing an automation toolset.
◦ 3+ years of experience with unit and integration testing, service/API testing, and performance/load testing.
◦ 5+ years of experience with .NET technologies such as C#.
