Junior Associate, Europe

About the opportunity

Dentons Europe is looking for an in-house associate for its regional operations covering Europe and Central Asia. The position may be based in any European location with a Dentons office. This is a full-time role, but flexible working arrangements are possible after an introductory period.

About the role

The successful applicant will become part of the international inhouse team of Dentons Europe known as the Office of General Counsel (OGC). The OGC is currently made up of seven lawyers working in UK, Poland, Romania and Italy. The role of the OGC is to provide the regional legal support for the regional management of the firm.

The scope of this role is wide. The successful applicant will support the work of the OGC in advising on a wide range of legal issues, in particular commercial law, including contract drafting, corporate governance, legal policy development and implementation, and legal risk management. The successful applicant will also be expected, under supervision, to draft and/or review agreements and other documents (e.g., NDA, term sheets, service contracts, procurement contracts, intra-group contracts), internal firm policies and guidelines, and other documents (resolutions, notices, letters, etc.).

The role will also involve:

• reviewing and responding to standard queries,
• legal drafting under supervision,
• escalating to other OGC team members as appropriate and in accordance with agreed procedures,
• legal research to support the ongoing projects of the OGC,
• general administrative duties, including e-filing, redacting sensitive documents, proofreading and organizing translations.

This role would suit a person who is looking for an inhouse role in a dynamic international business setting.

About you

• Lawyer (law graduate) with 1-2 years of work experience
• True fluency (written and spoken) in English; actually living/working in an English-speaking country advantageous
• Fluency in more than one European language would be an added value
• Excellent research, communications skills, attention to detail
• A demonstrable ability to grasp quickly new concepts and areas of the law with an openness to learning new approaches, topics and skills
• Good IT skills including mainstream applications
• Adaptable to business needs and different business cultures
• Reliable, responsive, with strong organisational and administrative skills
• Flexibility and adaptability in attitude and approach to work, with a willingness to support the team with whatever may arise, working towards a common objective
• Ability to set priorities in your area of responsibility and meeting deadlines
