As a key member of the plant leadership team, you will engage and lead the plant floor, union, and leadership teams to achieve and maintain world class environmental, health, and safety performance. Candidates for this position must be capable of building relationships at all levels of the organization and promoting a work environment that values open communication, positive networking, and continuous EHS improvement. This position will report to the Plant Manager.

What you’ll be doing
- Leading the plant in achieving a sustainable safety culture through effective implementation of the plant's safety processes and initiatives. Focused on risk and incident reduction, compliance, case management and safety system effectiveness (i.e., risk assessment, coaching incident investigation, line audit, and training processes)
- Ensuring compliance with OSHA and Armstrong safety and health regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures
- Providing functional knowledge of key OSHA regulations and industry standards (i.e.: record keeping, confined space, energy isolation, machine safeguarding, powered industrial trucks, electrical safety, hazardous communications, and industrial hygiene monitoring
- Working with plant floor and leadership teams to identify and implement safety and health improvement opportunities based on employee feedback, observations, and data trends
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, local and Armstrong environmental regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures
- Providing functional knowledge and experience in air and wastewater permitting, compliance, waste management, and community right-to-know act reporting
- Supporting Armstrong sustainability initiatives
- Engaging the plant strategic and operating plans to ensure environmental and safety compliance while improving overall operating results
- Interacting effectively with all levels of the organization, specifically the Union
- Providing urgent response to operational issues 24/7 which includes environmental upset conditions and case management of safety incidents
- Providing leadership and project management for specific projects, initiatives, and business processes needed to drive environmental and safety performance
- Developing and managing budgets for safety and environmental activities including; safety supplies, safety recognition, consulting and testing, and waste removal and sewer fees
- Interfacing with Corporate EHS to execute Armstrong initiatives and actively participating in the ABP EHS Networks
- Directing the activities of the plant environmental and safety committees, part-time environmental consultant, and safety leadership team
What will make you successful
- BS degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Management or closely related field
- Supervisory experience
- Proven training and development experience
- Experience with Title V permitting and reporting
- Minimum of 5 years demonstrated EHS management experience in a manufac
