Department Overview

The men and women of General Counsel & Ethics, Risk and Compliance ensure the delivery of safe and reliable service to our customers. This department partners with the Electric Organization to ensure responsibility for public safety surrounding PG&E’s electric distribution, transmission, and substation systems.

 

Position Summary

The Public Safety Program Manager, Principal is responsible for supporting an effective and efficient public safety risk management program associated with Electrical assets. The position develops and implements a risk management framework, consults across the Functional Areas to analyze risks and develop mitigation plans. Serves as an expert and liaison between Electric and Enterprise Health & Safety functions ensuring alignment and common understanding of public safety risks. Prepares reporting and analysis for the Functional Areas and the enterprise. Responds to GRC and other regulatory data requests, including the supporting analysis.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. 

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. 

 

A reasonable salary range is:

 

Bay Area Minimum: $140,000
Bay Area Maximum: $238,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $133,000
California Maximum: $226,000
 

 

Job Responsibilities

•    Responsible for overseeing end-to-end process execution related to the Electric Public Safety Awareness Program.
•    Collaborate and coordinate with other Functional Areas and Utilities to leverage current communications-related processes, activities, and products to disseminate required Public Awareness Program messages.
•    Engage with Electric Operations and Enterprise Health & Safety organizations to implement pilot and emerging technology solutions to improve Public Safety Programs 
•    Serves as an expert in the Electric Public Safety Awareness Program for any public safety incidents and provides necessary documentation for litigation matters.
•    Performs safety risk assessments on the Electric System to improve PG&E’s understanding of the risk and to reduce risk exposure.
•    Coordinates between asset family strategists, regulatory, and risk management to drive risk mitigation strategies.
•    Leverages safety and risk information to understand and challenge business decisions.
•    Communicates effectively through presentation and individual discussion with managers and employees ranging from engineering & planning to operations.
•    Develops and coordinates presentation materials for various levels of management, including Executives and Board.
 

 

Qualifications

Minimum:
•    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
•    Ten years of relevant experience in public safety, quantitative analysis, risk management, engineering, operations, maintenance, construction of electric systems or electric generation, also to include three years of experience in managing, coordinating, and performing complex business analysis and regulatory proceedings


Desired:
•    Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a risk related discipline
•    Professional Engineer
•    Cross-functional project management skills, strategic planning or utility operations
•    Strong analytical and quantitative skills
•    Experience with data science/analysis
•    Certification in risk management, quality engineering, or safety engineering
•    Extensive knowledge of risk analysis and assessment
•    Knowledge of oil and gas, natural gas and/or electric operations business
•    Strong communication skills for all levels of organization, both verbal and in writing
•    Ability to work across multiple functions and build strong working relationships
•    Ability to facilitate decision-making
•    Ability to synthesize complex issues into easy to understand concepts
•    Ability to influence varying levels of leadership and collaborate with cross-functional teams
