This position is an essential part of Sherwin’s manufacturing team. This position is accountable for loading or unloading shipments, pulling and picking orders, and operating a variety of machinery and equipment. Material Handler employees will rotate through various positions within the warehouse.

2nd Shift: Monday - Friday 3:00pm - 11:30pm
This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company’s applicable plans.

Job duties include contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s staff, employees, and vendors.
- Load and unload shipments verifies materials and packing slips, and stocks items as appropriate.
- Pull, pick, and stage orders based on customer or production needs, prepare items for shipment or production, and complete appropriate paperwork or updates system records.
- Operate a forklift and other machinery or tools to transport, move, stock, and store materials and product.
- Complete appropriate paperwork and/or enters data regarding incoming materials, work-in-progress, outgoing orders, and other operations to ensure records and counts are accurate.
- Assist with maintaining an inventory of materials, product, and goods, such as completing cycle counts, performing calculations, entering information, and other related duties.
- Ensure compliance with operating policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment and efficient operations; may require the employee to wear safety equipment or gear.
- Assist with maintaining a clean and safe working environment and may perform various janitorial or housekeeping tasks.
- Communicate with production, quality control, maintenance, and other departments to maintain a safe and effective environment and to ensure quality products.
- Participate in various committees and problem-solving teams, in a professional manner.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have at least one (1) year experience working in a manufacturing and/or distribution facility
- Have at least one (1) year of work experience monitoring gauges, dials, or other machinery indicators to ensure proper operation of machinery
- Have at least one (1) year of work experience operating machinery in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment
- Have at least one (1) year of work experience monitoring the quality of raw materials and/or finished goods
- Have at least one (1) year of work experience operating packaging equipment such as robotics, filling machines, case packers, or labelers, etc.
- Have at least one (1) year of work experience using material handling equipment (for example: forklifts (stand and sit), pallet jacks, hand trucks, order pickers, vacu-hoists, drum dollys, conveyor belts, etc.)
