Position Overview

The Human Resources team, located in Davenport, Iowa, is seeking a HR Business Partner Lead. The Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for providing a wide range of transactional and strategic human resource services including compensation, recruitment and selection, personnel administration, employee training and development, organizational development, employee relations, and change management to employees of the Automotive Finishing or Recycling plant in Davenport, IA.

As a strategic partner, this role aligns business objectives with employees and management in the functional groups they support. This role also serves as a consultant to management on Human Resource related issues. A successful HRBP will live the Novelis Culture Beliefs, act as an employee champion and change agent who can quickly and sustainably develop trust of managers and employees alike. The incumbent assesses and anticipates HR-related needs and communicates to business management proactively, seeking to develop coordinated solutions. This role formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver beneficial service to management and employees that reflects the strategic objectives of the organization.

This position will need to make decisions and recommendations that balance the needs of the employee and objectives of the Company. Decision-making is very broad in scope with many variables interacting at any given time.

  • Provide mentorship to location employees on a variety of employee related issues and situations.
  • Provide support to employees and managers for accurate completion of HR processes.
  • Drive Talent Management initiatives in support of employee development and engagement across client groups.
  • Assist with addressing performance-related issues.
  • Own the labor relations process for the plants’ union(s)
  • Craft and build positions most effective to support the business.
  • Work with Compensation team to evaluate jobs and determine accurate job band.
  • Assist with compensation recommendations for internal employees to maintain internal equity.
  • Work closely with TA COE to fill positions quickly, with the best available talent.
  • Coordinate onboarding process with ELC team to ensure completion of all pre-employment steps as well as new hire paperwork, HRIS data set up and ongoing support to new hires.
  • Connect with payroll and benefits on employee status changes (ex. new hires, transfers, off-cycle pay increases, salary adjustment, relocations, terminations). maintain accurate employment records in the Novelis systems of record, follow established processes
  • Enter and maintain pertinent data in the company’s Human Resource Information System (HRIS) including personnel data
  • Request and coordinate the preparation of routine and ad hoc reports from the HRIS system.
  • Assist department managers with yearly processes such as salary planning and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate and plan company events.
  • Assist with management of the unform program.
  • Conduct safety walks and or audits as needed.
  • Enter purchase requisitions and receive POs in current system.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Human Resources or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Five+ years of progressive human resources experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Self-motivation to get results and complete tasks independently
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to connect with all levels in the organization clearly and concisely
  • Must be able to coordinate and prioritize technology and lead multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and build relationships with the workforce.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with HR systems (HRIS, ATS, etc.) preferred.
