    • Position Summary
    • One temporary hourly-intermittent Work Study Student Assistant positions in Basic Needs.

    • Days/Hours
    • Hours of operation: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Thursday until 6:00 p.m.

    • Start Date
    • Position is available on or after September 9, 2024 and ending on or before May 23, 2025. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

    • Job Description/Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Directly assist food pantry and Clothes Closet participants with intake process, item selection, and customer service.
      • Provide for a clean, safe and efficient operation of the Warrior Food Pantry and pantry snack baskets/microwaves around campus.
      • Provide a welcoming culturally appropriate inclusive atmosphere that supports nutritional wellness while maintaining confidentiality and respect of Warrior Food Pantry participants.
      • Responsible for Warrior Food Pantry data collection, entry, and reporting.
      • Assist with Basic Needs, Warrior Food Pantry and Clothes Closet programming and awareness through tabling and outreach events.
      • Process and track food & item donations.
      • Inventory Management - Sort, track, and shelve items per established guidelines.
      • Participate in food safety training to ensure food safety compliance.
      • Directly assist students with Food Distribution paperwork, and update and file completed forms.
      • Assist with preparation and facilitation of pop-up pantry distributions, LIVE food demonstrations, and other events as needed.
      • Assist with training of volunteers.
      • Collects and maintains documents, information, and records for submission to supervisor.
      • Support the campus by providing feedback on the climate of healthy behavior, including the most pressing concerns they are seeing/experiencing in interactions with student participants.
      • Serve as Basic Needs Ambassador, participating in virtual or in-person pop-up pantry events, Food Distribution events and other Basic Needs programming, such as National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, Share the Love Week or CalFresh pre-screening events
      • Provide CalFresh pre-screenings to Warrior Food Pantry participants. Complete necessary confidentiality training or other CalFresh training.
      • Marketing - Assist with efforts to educate and market via social media, print, and other formats.
      • Develops content for digital signage and Basic Needs Newsletter.
      • Knowledgeable of and ability to use independent judgement to refer students to additional campus resources. Refer students with additional needs to appropriate staff.
      • Attend weekly WFP meetings.
      • Provide regular updates to supervisor(s).

      Other duties as assigned.

    • Qualifications













    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Demonstrates ability to maintain confidentiality, promptness and attendance.
      • Demonstrates dependability and able to follow-through on assignments.
      • Familiar with Canva, Adobe, Word, and PowerPoint.
      • Experience working with or awareness of college students who have experienced food/housing insecurity and/ or financial hardships or emergencies.
      • Ability to work evenings.
      • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, maintained during employment; must be making progress towards degree.
      • Excellent customer service and passion to help and support students.
      • Ability to work well in a team or individually.
      • Good judgement when handling sensitive and/or confidential materials.
      • Ability to accurately complete work in a timely manner with minimal/no supervision.
      • Ability to work with a diverse population.
      • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
      • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

      Required Qualifications:
      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
      • Must have received and accepted Financial Aid award for the current semester/year in which you are applying.
