Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision
- Oversee underwriting, pricing and negotiating of accounts to win new business and retain renewals.
- Lead, develop, manage and build a team of high-performing Production Underwriters
- Communicate underwriting guidelines, philosophies, and decisions on pricing and oversight they are being followed.
- Oversees decisions of policy limits, deductibles, coverage options and terms offered to ensure business is priced in accordance with company guidelines.
Portfolio Management
- Evaluates portfolio performance based on profitability metrics, premium and loss experience, and production metrics.
- Has accountability for own risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability (within scope of authority) decisions and those made by the underwriting team.
- Makes recommendations on risk over authority.
- Achieve revenue, retention and margin targets for multiple product lines.
Product Management
- Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions, and good practice to minimize risk and maximize efficiency.
- Research and obtain market intelligence to enhance product lines to stay competitive.
- Assist with carrier and/or regulatory audits and objections from State Department of Insurance.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications & KSA):
- Property & Casualty License required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Field of Study: Business, Accounting, or Finance
- 5 – 7 years related experience
- 3 – 4 years leadership experience
