The Youth Treatment Counselor (YTC) Supervisor-CHRP IDD is responsible for supporting a therapeutic residential program that fosters youth resilience, healing, informed by best practices, and a deep understanding of trauma informed care. This Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision and support of the direct care staff and timely documentation tracking and review. 

As direct care leader in our Residential Program you work to build meaningful and healthy relationships with each child we support during their stay. YTC Supervisors participate in providing support though clients meals, transportation, daily hygiene guidance, age-appropriate activities, and overall adherence to milieu structure. You will also provide crisis de-escalation and behavior support interventions. During this time, your meaningful commitment to their experience in the Residential Program is making it possible for TCC clients with intellectual and Development Disabilities, (IDD) needs to access their community and create a meaningful and healthy relationships with their peers, staff, and care givers. You will work collaboratively with a group of professionals to support the clients’ individual needs for maximum results. 

A successful Supervisor must have a broad knowledge of best practice milieu skills and modalities for working with children with intellectual disabilities, neurodevelopmental delays, complex trauma, knowledge in child development, and of the relationship between trauma and neurobiology, and a critical thinking lens grounded in a trauma informed client centered philosophy.  They must have a strategic mindset, be able to develop, mentor, and train staff; and excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills. 

 


 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Collaborate with the other program supervisors to identify and support training of agency policies and procedures, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Trauma Informed Care (TIC), and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy interventions as directed by Tennyson’s Residential BCBA.
  • Provide milieu management through on the floor training, shadowing, and mentoring. 
  • Debriefing and providing constructive feedback to ensure clean, safe, and therapeutic learning environments that align with treatment plans.
  • Works collaboratively with other department leaders to ensure consistency and continuity between education, milieu, and clinical teams  
  • Maintain a trauma informed milieu to provide healthy and supportive home environments for children.
  • Maintains timely documentation including but not limited to, critical incident reports, daily logs, SWISS data, daily notes, and head count sheets and other reports required per regulatory entities. 
  • Respect racial, ethnic and cultural differences of all clients and staff.
  • Hire, retain, train, and develop staff.
  • Apply change, risk and resource management principles to increase positive behavior change strategies and provide individualized care to each resident. 

Other Job Functions 

  • On the floor coverage as needed to support staffing ratios.
  • Annual performance evaluations of direct care staff.
  • Provide training and resources for staff and support staff via phone and in person with questions, including evenings as needed.
  • Support TCC philosophy, clinical direction, and supervisory decisions.
  • Support staff in work-life balance and role model healthy professional boundaries.

Physical Requirements 

  • Physical requirements include the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force; physical condition to enable walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; stamina to be on feet and active for full workdays; ability to speak or exchange information in an audible manner. 

 

  Working Conditions 

  • This position does not work remotely.
  • Residential living setting and office setting.
  • Minimal travel may be required to support residential clients and staff during community outings.
  • On-call shifts required to support milieu staff.

Minimum Qualifications 

  •  Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services or 4 years related experience required.
  •  Must have a minimum of 1 year experience working with children
