Company Overview:

Located in the heart of Dallas, Texas Institute for Surgery (TIS) is a state-of-the-art surgical hospital dedicated to providing the best in surgical services in combination with renowned patient care. Our facility has nine OR's, three pain management/lithotripsy treatment rooms and CT scan radiology services. There are also nine patient and family-friendly inpatient rooms for longer recovery needs.

TIS was founded and is jointly owned by a select group of highly-acclaimed Dallas surgeons and Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas.

TIS surgeons specialize in orthopedic surgery, back and spine surgery, pain management, ENT procedures, plastic surgery, foot and ankle surgery, urological surgical care, sports medicine and other specialties.

Purpose: Under the direct supervision of a RN, perform health care services in a clinical setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the flow of patients from waiting area to exam rooms in various departments.
  • Transportation of patient via use of wheelchair or walker as needed. Assists patients with personal medical needs.
  • Recognizes, reports, and reacts to actual or potential emergency situations.
  • Assists in PACU, SDRR, Units under the guidance of R.N.
  • Restocks rooms, folds and puts away laundry, performs housekeeping duties, checks sharps box, gloves, tissues and empties linen bags daily.
  • Takes and charts vital signs.
  • Implements age specific care to the child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient.
  • Order nutrition weekly and stock on daily basis.
  • Demonstrates customer service through continuous monitoring of patient needs (e.g. providing warm blanket, juice, crackers, etc.).
  • Daily faxing of Medication Reconciliation Form (MRF) to follow up physicians.
  • Assists with lab needs as pertinent under guidance of RN.
  • Communicates professionally with patients, family members, and peers.
  • Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to changes in the schedule and /or work assignments necessary to changing needs of the individual patient or unit.
  • Must work within scope of practice.

 

Qualifications


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified as a Medical Assistant and/or Nurse Assistant
  • CPR Certified

Good organizational skills
