About the role

This is a remote position.

We are looking for a Data Engineer to support the scaling and enhancement of logging systems by normalizing raw security logs to a standardized schema. This involves using Microsoft tooling within the Azure landscape and applying manual processes for normalization.
 You will work directly with a small sample of logs to generate and apply the normalization configuration within the data pipeline.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Identify at least 60% of the security log schema for 150 applications and normalize them by the end of the year.
  • Test the security log normalization process to ensure its effectiveness.
  • Apply the normalization configuration directly into the Azure data pipeline.
  • Validate the success of the security log normalization with key stakeholders.
  • Maintain data quality over time, preventing the loss or dropping of security logs.
  • Ensure the timely execution and scaling of logging normalization processes as part of a data-driven project.

Requirements

  • Strong data skills, with the ability to extract meaningful insights and solve problems using data.
  • Proficient in data engineering and implementing data analytics from source to consumption.
  • Familiarity with Azure pipelines and related tools (preferred).
  • Deep understanding of security logs in different formats and schemas.
  • Experience in data wrangling techniques such as KQL, Regex, and Grok.
  • 3+ years of experience with SIEM solutions and detection engineering.
  • Excellent communication and data visualization skills, able to tailor messaging for different audiences.
  • Knowledge in Internet technologies (e.g., networks, web applications, HTTP, JSON, XML).
  • Background in information security, including identity/access management, cybercrime, and cybersecurity.
  • Familiarity with the banking or financial sectors (preferred).
  • Experience working with agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum).
