What You Will Do
- Perform the mechanical work necessary to conduct hoist preventative maintenance, inspections and repair as needed for the 600+ hoists throughout the site.
- Perform overhead hoist, system maintenance, repair work as assigned, and carry out preventive maintenance and service as required.
- Repair and maintain mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, maintenance manuals, specifications from the manufacturer, approved industry standards, and established codes.
- Assist others responsible for complex installation, overhaul, and repair projects in preparing materials and operating equipment.
- Under direction of Leader/Supervisor follow specific instructions and standard trade practices to obtain tools, material, and equipment for carrying out work assignments on piping systems, control devices and related equipment.
- Assist other trades working on joint projects where common skill crossover provides the opportunity for shared responsibilities and more effective use of available skills.
- Operate a forklift and personal lifts.
- Construction rigging.
- General understanding of gearboxes, brakes, and lubrication systems.
- General knowledge of structural systems.
- Have a basic understanding of plumbing and piping.
- Observe all safety responsibilities to include but not limited to, Lockout Tagout, and other safety related programs.
- Candidates must have the ability to work independently, have strong organizational skills and initiative while working with the group.
- Refer difficulties to leader/supervisor.
- May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals' skills.
- May be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses for hoist maintenance and certifications within assigned trade specialization.
- Hours are Monday – Friday 6:24 AM – 14:54 PM.
Qualifications You Must Have
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- US Citizenship required due to government contracts
- 3+ years of related hoist maintenance experience
Qualifications We Prefer
- License - State of Connecticut (R-9) or (R-10) license preferred
- High level of safe work practices while performing all tasks
