About the role

Responsible for patient care with supervising physician, and in collaboration with associated medical teams and staffing. Performs a broad spectrum of care regarding critical thinking, diagnosis, ordering of medications and diagnostics, and performance of corrective, preventive and therapeutic measures in the inpatient, surgical, and/or outpatient setting. Assumes medical staff privileging under the scope of practice of a delegated physician determined by Mount Sinai Health System, and the department of hire.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide care for patients in collaboration with the physician and within the guidelines mutually agreed upon by clinical and medical administration.
  • Assesses patients’ needs and develops plan of care in collaboration with the physician
  • Provides health teaching, guidance and counseling 
  • Makes appropriate referrals with the concurrence of the physician
  • Performs complete physical exams utilizing customary techniques
  • Orders diagnostic testing in collaboration with the physician
  • Orders medication in collaboration with physician     

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
  • Three to five years equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • New York State license and current registration as a Physician Assistant.
  • NCCPA Certification through completion of national boards
  • BLS/ACLS certification
  • All credentialing documents not limited to but including NYS PA license and registration, Diploma, current PA certification, ACLS, BLS, DEA, etc
