Senior Human Resources Business Partner

At Nautilus, we have a big and important mission: improve the health of millions by unleashing the potential of the proteome to accelerate drug development and enable a new world of precision and personalized medicine. We are developing a single-molecule protein analysis platform of unprecedented sensitivity, scale, and ease of use that we believe will democratize access to the proteome – one of the most dynamic and valuable sources of biological insight. The Sr. HRBP will be a key strategic partner for the next phase of Nautilus’ growth. This person will work closely with leadership, managers, and employees to ensure that the company is positioned to achieve its goals, and that the employees are able to find a sense of development and fulfillment along the way. They will partner with the Chief People Officer, HR Director and Recruiters on our small, but expanding team. Our successful candidate will understand influence-based partnerships, trust building, empathetic professionalism, and most of all: humans.
This role is based out of our San Carlos, CA office with reasonable flexibility, and will report to the Chief People Officer.

Responsibilities

• Build strong and trusted relationships with leaders and employees alike
• Provide strategic workforce planning guidance to managers and leaders
• Work with leaders to identify skill gaps and development opportunities within their teams
• Coach managers on delivering development plans, feedback, and appraisals
• Be a point of contact for employees on matters ranging from compensation questions, to career pathing, to concerns
• Engage quickly, compassionately, and judiciously on Employee Relations issues; and perform investigations as needed
• Partner closely with Talent Acquisition to help deliver on hiring goals
• Partner closely with all People Team functional areas to deliver programs to the company
• Assist in the development and delivery of company programs like annual reviews, recognition, promotion, internal mobility, survey, and more
• Pair with the HR team to create and maintain effective onboarding and off-boarding practices
• Advise teams and leaders on change management and organizational design
• Support internal communications initiatives
• Leverage available people data to provide insights and recommendations to leadership
• Be a culture advocate

Requirements

• A minimum of 6+ years of HR business partner related experience.
• Experience in life sciences or tech highly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• SHRM-CP or PHR preferred
• Experience working with different types of leaders and employees to build trust and accomplish collective goals
• Strong knowledge and application of both state and federal labor and employment laws
• Leadership skills to influence, motivate, and engage
• Strong partner management skills that include the ability to effectively consult, negotiate, resolve conflict, and influence change
• A process improvement mindset
• A commitment to employee data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality
• Exposure or experience in other HR disciplines preferred. Ex: compensation & benefits and performance management
• The ability to work independently and prioritize tasks & projects
• Good organizational skills and responsive communication style and ability to communicate complex employment related concepts
