Position Specific Description

The Operational Analytics Supervisor will focus on overseeing a team of analysts responsible for the performance analysis and reporting of wind and solar plant operations.  The team, comprised of engineers/analysts, is responsible for applying advanced scientific methodologies to production data to aid in determination of root cause analysis of sub-optimal performance.  The candidate achieves successful results by effectively applying analytical solutions, understanding results and articulating results to other business units. This position also commonly provides reports and status updates to executive management through various risk vetting and operational committees.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Atmospheric Science, Math, Physics; advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in a combination of the following, or related, areas:
    • Wind and solar energy background
    • Quantitative analysis of large datasets
  • Proficient in statistical analysis packages (R, Python, PHP, STRATA or MATLAB) and other computer science languages preferred (C++, Java, Javascript, etc.)
  • Advanced abilities with MS applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization; both written and oral
  • Ability to meet office attendance requirements and storm duty assignments
     

Job Overview

Employees in this role lead a team of operational analytics engineers in the monitoring of renewable energy generation assets. This role requires the leadership ability to work cross-functionally to diagnose and resolve issues that are impacting the performance of a fleet of energy assets. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the gross generation budgets for all wind, solar, and storage energy assets within the NextEra Energy enterprise. Successful employees in this role will be able to quickly anticipate process gaps, adapt existing methodologies, and spearhead the development/implementation of new solutions in the spirit of continuous improvement. An important part of this role also requires excellent verbal and written interaction with upper management to concisely communicate problems and recommend solutions going forward. Employees in this role will act as a subject matter expert in the field of asset performance monitoring and will be expected to drive forward initiatives that result in the improvement of asset performance either as a site level or fleet portfolio level. Success in this role will also be heavily dependent upon excellent people management skills and ones ability to attract, develop, and retain top technical talent.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coaching, developing and directing technical engineers to achieve business needs
  • Communicating problems or issues in asset performance to upper management and recommending solutions
  • Adapting existing processes to support the changing business environment and technological advancements 
  • Managing the gross generation performance budget for both NEER and FPL wind, solar, and storage fleet
  • Advocating for the development of new tools and analytical processes than support the successful growth of the business
  • Managing customer interactions and ensuring excellent responsiveness to customer inquires or requests
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience: 7+ years
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certified

  • Master's Degree
