Position Summary...
We're seeking a Manager of Procurement - Construction to lead categories and achieve cost savings, efficiency, and profitability. The program is divided into Industrial, Supply Chain, New Stores, and Remodels. The ideal candidate has expertise in commercial construction pricing, operations, and contract management, as well as negotiation, vendor management, and financial acumen. They should also have strategic thinking skills, be able to quickly understand concepts, and effectively handle conflicts with resilience and emotional stability. Construction knowledge and insight are more valuable than procurement knowledge.About the team: Global Procurement is responsible for sourcing goods and services not for resale (GNFR), encompassing a comprehensive procurement process that spans from partner collaboration to requirement development and supplier negotiation. Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional quality and service levels, driving cost savings, promoting innovation, ensuring compliance, and prioritizing supplier diversity and sustainability. We carefully select and manage the performance of suppliers to support the business teams we serve.
What you'll do...
• Develop and implement procurement strategies to enhance spend management and achieve targets for WMT's Realty/Construction division.
• Lead stakeholders, cultivate relationships with suppliers, and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms and conditions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure procurement initiatives align with business objectives and drive procurement excellence.
• Identify emerging trends, technologies, and suppliers to enhance the procurement process and reduce costs.
• Lead and influence others to adopt best practices, new technologies, and process improvements that drive procurement excellence.
What you’ll bring:
• Proven experience in construction procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, and expertise in managing construction projects and contracts.
• Strong pricing and bidding skills, with ability to negotiate complex contracts and draft/review contracts to ensure favorable terms.
• Excellent category strategy and sourcing selection skills, with ability to identify and capitalize on opportunities for cost savings and innovation in construction and real estate.
• Strong analytical and deductive reasoning skills, with ability to develop TCO modeling and convey information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Experience in MasterFormat 50, with ability to apply knowledge to construction projects and contracts.
• Certification in Project Management and experience with prioritizing and coordinating action plans with cross-functional teams, with a focus on construction and real estate projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field with 5 years' experience in Commercial Real Estate or Warehouse site development, building design, and construction management.
