Summary
Performs all facilities maintenance work by using common tools of the trade.
Detailed Description
Performs maintenance work involving two or more crafts. Uses common and specialized hand and power tools associated with the trade. Performs the following: General carpentry skills, prepares and paints or seals surfaces; makes plumbing repairs and installations; minor repairs to heating, cooling and ventilating equipment; general machine repair; basic electrical repair; repair to water treatment systems; janitorial duties, handles and moves hazardous materials. Operates forklift, pallet trucks and specialized lifts as required. Estimates time and material requirements for assigned tasks.
Follows all ISO 9001 work instructions and general department procedures. Keeps facilities, materials, and work area clean and organized, exercising care in their use. Uses safety practices and takes prompt action to correct problems. Works with Lockout-Tagout program. Assists co-workers when necessary to meet work unit goals. Actively seeks continuous process improvement. May be required to train other employees and assist in orientation of new employees. Performs other duties as required and may be utilized in other areas and departments of manufacturing as workload may dictate.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of internal customers.
- Knowledge of electrical, electromechanical and pneumatic systems and principals of operation preferred
- Basic knowledge of methods used in the routine maintenance and repair of office and manufacturing facilities.
- Basic knowledge of building operating systems.
- Ability to operate complex equipment (e.g., tractors, delivery trucks, etc.) and other machinery / equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, high-lift equipment, power tools, etc.) Proof of required operator’s licenses and / or certifications.
- Ability to analyze equipment and systems, troubleshoot problems and make appropriate repairs.
- Knowledge of personal computers and Windows applications.
- Have basic knowledge of Hazardous Materials.
Physical Demands
- Work requires heavy lifting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, climbing, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling, working on roof.
- Job duties require working with and around chemicals.
Typical Experience
- Three years prior craft-like experience and demonstrated proficiency in two or more trades required.
Typical Education
- Additional courses after High School, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
