Job Summary

 

 

As a Manufacturing Engineer – Tooling, you will be responsible for supporting operational and development programs within Cutter Grind North America operations.  Within the team, you will focus on delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to cutting tools.  You will have the opportunity to interface with customers to develop new products and will generally operate with appreciable latitude for non-reviewed action or decision-making.

Job Responsibilities

 

•    Uphold daily operations; coordination of internal and external cutting tool production resources.
•    Provides hands-on support for CNC grinding and inspection equipment
•    Continuously improve and standardize processes through use of “Lean” tools
•    Supports quotation process including; new product quotes, tooling configuration changes that involve cost estimation and schedule coordination 
•    Establishes the process for the manufacture of cutting tools.
•    Introduces new parts into production.
•    Reverse-engineers complex cutting tools
•    Creates 2-D blueprints and 3-D models of cutting tools
•    Creates and proves out programs for the ANCA CNC grinding machines
•    Creates inspection programs for the Zoller inspection machines
•    Utilize root cause analysis and corrective actions to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.
•    Interfaces with customers concerning design problems, part prints, etc.    
•    Effectively works within project teams to develop execute on plans to meet business goals.
•    Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
•    Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health,
•    Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
•    Performs other duties as assigned by management
 

Job Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:


•    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or lieu of degree 5+ years of cutting tool design experience
•    2+ Years of experience in a Manufacturing environment
•    2 years of experience using Microsoft Office tools including Excel
•    2 years of experience interpretation of blueprints
•    1 year of design experience using NX, Catia or Solidworks CAD/CAM software
•    Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.  

 

Preferred Qualifications:


•    Experience in CNC Machining strongly preferred
•    Hands-on approach to problem solving 
•    Sound mechanical understanding of manufacturing, machinery and cutting tool geometry.
•    Experience with ANCA and Zoller machines and software
•    Working experience in Project / Program Management
•    Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Toleranceing (GD&T)
•    Ability to identify and anticipate technical problems and offers solutions
•    Insatiable desire to complete tasks on time and continuously seek for better ways of working
•    Ability to work own initiative, whilst able to supervise others. 
•    Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000
•    Understands the formal and informal structure of the business
