Management Trainee – Food & Beverage InterContinental Hotels & Resorts
Position Summary
At InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, we believe in True Hospitality for Good. The Food & Beverage Management Trainee program is designed to develop the next generation of hospitality leaders through immersive, hands-on experience in a luxury hotel environment.
The Management Trainee will participate in a structured rotational program across Food & Beverage outlets, gaining exposure to restaurant, bar, speakeasy, banquet, and in-room dining operations, while developing leadership, financial acumen, and service excellence in alignment with IHG brand standards and InterContinental luxury service culture.
This role is ideal for motivated individuals seeking a long-term management career within InterContinental and the broader IHG portfolio.
Luxury Operations & Service Excellence
• Rotate through all Food & Beverage outlets, including restaurant, bar, speakeasy, banquets, and in-room dining
• Support daily operations to deliver personalized, intuitive, and refined guest experiences
• Learn and uphold InterContinental brand standards, SOPs, and quality assurance requirements
• Learn about the CBA in place
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, floor leadership, and operational problem-solving
Leadership Development & Team Engagement
• Participate in pre-shift meetings and contribute to daily operational communications
• Support training and development initiatives for frontline colleagues
• Learn effective leadership practices within a union environment
• Observe and develop skills in coaching, performance management, and colleague engagement
• Promote a culture of respect, collaboration, safety, and inclusivity
Financial & Business Acumen
• Gain exposure to labor management, scheduling, payroll controls, and productivity targets
• Assist with inventory management, purchasing, and cost control initiatives
• Learn fundamentals of budgeting, forecasting, and Food & Beverage financial reporting
• Support compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including responsible alcohol service
Training & Development Program
• Structured rotational program across Food & Beverage department
• Ongoing coaching and mentorship from senior Food & Beverage leaders
• Exposure to cross-functional collaboration (Culinary, Sales & Events, Finance, Human Resources)
• Regular performance feedback and individual development planning
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred
• Prior experience in Food & Beverage or hotel operations strongly preferred
• Internship or supervisory experience in a luxury or upscale environment is an asset

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• High level of professionalism, emotional intelligence, and attention to detail
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Passion for luxury hospitality and guest service excellence
• Eligible to work in the United States
Physical & Work Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
• Ability to work in a dynamic, operational hotel environment
