Extruder Operator Lead

SUMMARY

Royal Building Products, a vinyl siding manufacturer in Columbus OH, has a full-time opening for an Extruder Operator Lead.  This position is responsible for coordinating daily job assignments and oversees vinyl siding production during assigned shift.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Provide technical leadership to personnel which includes line setup and extrusion line operation
• Responsible for set-ups and teardowns of lines and coordinating line changeovers
• Responsible for installing and changing dies
• Partner with quality team to ensure all quality standards; practices, testing and metrics are administered and adhered to as required by VSI and the customer’s expectations. Visually inspects products for quality and installation variance and defects
• Operate extrusion line or other production processes when required
• Participate and lead during Extruder Operator training
• Complete production paperwork and submit it in a timely manner

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience related to manufacturing operations, specifically extrusion production
• Good work knowledge of entire production process
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality
• Lead supervisory experience a plus
• Microsoft Office, JDE, DSI knowledge
• High School diploma
• OSHA 10-hour certification; ARC flash preferred
   

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to hold, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must lift, carry and/or move up to 75 lbs frequently. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. In addition, mobility to cover 2 facilities (North & South Plant) is required.

WORK ENVIROMENT:

This position works in a fast-paced manufacturing facility.  Noise level commensurate with large machinery.  Ear and eye protection must be worn at all times and steel toed shoes and long pants are required.  Temperatures, although maintained, can be effected by outside weather conditions.
