Summary of Job Duties:

UA Little Rock is seeking applicants for the position of Extra Help/TRIO Outreach Assistant. The TRIO Talent Search, Educational Opportunity Center, and Upward Bound are higher education access programs designed to support low-income, potential first-generation students in completing secondary school and pursuing postsecondary education. These programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

The Extra Help Assistant will assist full-time staff in delivering services and activities to participants, provide tutoring support, and offer administrative assistance for the programs. This position is governed by state and federal laws, as well as agency and institutional policies.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

• The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma;

• 60 plus college-level hours.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist TRIO staff in coordination and implementation of community outreach events and target school workshops;

• Assist in developing an advertisement and marketing plan for community events;

• Prepare documents for outreach events and target school workshop curriculum;

• Provide information to interested individuals at outreach events;

• Occasional travel to surrounding counties and target school for outreach events and workshops;

• Produce newsletters, visual materials, and other electronic and paper documents for presentations;

• Develop engagement and social media components of the program;

• Coordinate and conduct college visit trips including overnight trips;

• Provide assistance in the office reception area / answer the phone;

• Inventory/supply maintenance;

• Fax documents/copy or scan documents;

• File documents/shred documents;

• Input student records on database system;

• Perform other duties as assigned.
