  • To provide technical direction / leadership on Exterior Systems CAE issues to the global team and other Ford stakeholders.
  • To lead the identification and development of new CAE methods, tools and techniques for studying the effectiveness on system level simulations.
  • To identify, develop and cascade corporate procedures and best practices on Exterior Systems. 
  • To be the SPOC specialist for any exterior plastic material simulations under different environmental conditions and manufacturing/injection variables. 
  • To be a resource for the interpretation of third parties CAE reports
  • To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of FEM / software capabilities 
  • To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of global safety regulations, and to support development of virtual procedures for future application.
  • To present results of investigations to global engineering CAE cluster.
  • To provide training on Exterior Systems methods, macros, techniques, procedures to the global stakeholders.
  • To manage and improve the analytical correlation status.
  • Leads and executes the Exterior Systems CAE Techincal Club
  • Awareness of issues and recurrence across AIMS, DURIS, Commodity Health Charts, Standards, Lessons Learned and other CAE groups.
  • Champions Exterior Systems institutional learning through technical training of standards, assessments, and advanced technologies.
  • Supports technical problem solving for significant quality/warranty issues and TVMs. 
  • Leads assigned special CAE projects and initiatives
Education/ Knowledge
  • Bachelor of Science/ Engineering with a Masters of Science/Engineering  
  • Knowledge of classic Finite Element methods
  • Expert on non-linear implicit/explicit analyses
  • Expert on the following software/sovlers: Ls-Dyna, ANSA/Hypermesh, Catia, Optistruct and Hyperstudy.
  • Deep knowledge od Tcl, Python, C++
  • Deep knowledge of Exterior Systems front and rear end architecture (bumpers, grilles, lightning, black trim, underbody shields, ornamentation)
  • Deep knowledge of polymers mechanical/material properties
  • Deep knowledge of Moldflow/3D Moldex simulation
  • Deep understanding of plastic Injection process, injection feasibility and tooling.    
  • Be proficient in English when working with global teams
Key Experiences

The following skills and experiences are required qualifications for this role:

  • Demonstrated Experience in Low Speed Damageability legal requirements, homologation and assessments. 
  • Experience on Exterior Systems component/system level cross- functional attributes (Safety, Durability, Aerodynamics, water management, NVH, Body Structures)
  • Expert on Exterior systems CAE component modeling and system assembly
  • 10   Years of Experience and/or 10 programs performing full system level CAE requirements on plastics. 
  • Operational experience in Pearson correlation, corporate procedure creation, launch support, studio guidance 
  • Demonstrated results in leading multi-region or global teams
  • Individual and team coaching and development
  • Demonstrated capability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Ability to lead resolution of complex, multi-input issues.
