About the role
The Executive Director of Progressive Care and Medical Surgical services provides strategic leadership and business development, service line growth as well as financial and operational oversight for the services.
Additional Informationor Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a Masters degree in a Healthcare related field or Business Administration.
Core Competencies
- Develops, implements and manages a model of Progressive Care and Medical Surgical care and services that supports the strategic goals for the organization
- Implements key business strategies and manages complex projects of strategic importance
- Oversees the delivery of services to patients for multiple specialties in the inpatient setting
- Develops both long-range business plans and developing and implementing growth strategies
- Utilizes sophisticated strategies of creative problem solving, critical thinking, strategic planning business development, marketing, team development and leadership to accomplish organizational goals
- Demonstrates knowledge of social, economic, legislative and legal issues affecting the health system
- Evaluates opportunities/need for new programs and or services based on core and extended service areas, payor mix, target business/service lines and potential market share
- Develops operational plans to include proforma, marketing strategies and implementation agenda
- Develops operational business development plans in collaboration with the CEO, Sr. Vice President of Patient Services/CNO and other members of Administration as needed
- Identifies new partnerships and program opportunities and includes department and physician leaders and any other appropriate stakeholders
- Identifies opportunities for improvement in services and service delivery and plans change utilizing Lean methodology
- Develops metrics to monitor and assess newly implemented strategies consistent with the PDCA model
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory and standard bodies including CDPH, and TJC.
- Creates a culture of safety and utilizes resources to promote quality and safety in practice and patient care
- Works with marketing and public relations to promote and raise awareness of services offered and to enhance patient experience
- Develops innovative ways to position business lines through appropriate cost-effective strategies that support the financial and growth objectives of the Medical Center
- Participates with other departments personnel demonstrating high emotional intelligence and team building in planning joint processes
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to difficult situations. Weighs the alternatives objectively and selects suitable action when confronted with an obstacle, aware of sensitive issues
- Prepares and manages budgets for key areas of accountability
- Evaluates competitive landscape and prepares business plans.
- Provides a supportive, team-based environment that facilitates group decision making and employee engagement.
- Provides horizontal and vertical growth setting up a solid leadership succession plan.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of national healthcare trends, multi-disciplinary professional practice models, reimbursement principles, information systems, cost management, quality management and customer service needs.
- Uses cognitive thinking skills, strong ability to lead and facilitates multi-disciplinary groups, develops effective teams, actively moves succession plans forward, and prioritizes and organizes work in an accurate and timely manner.
