Executive Coordinator
Third WayAbout the role
Third Way is a national think tank and advocacy organization that champions moderate policy and political ideas. Since our founding in 2005, we have served as a critical bulwark against political extremism by advancing values-driven, reform-oriented solutions on the defining issues of our time. Our work is grounded in the mainstream American values of opportunity, freedom, security, and democratic capitalism, and we advocate for the vital center across seven major areas: climate and energy, economy, education, health care, national security, politics, and social policy.
Third Way is seeking an Executive Coordinator to directly support two leaders of the Communications Program and Moderate Power Project, including members of Third Way’s management team. The Executive Coordinator contributes to the high impact of both teams by providing administrative support, coordinating logistics, and contributing to communications and social media, as well as events, finalizing products, and coordinating efforts across the organization to get those products out into the world. Third Way’s Communications Team is a leading voice in the center-left, guiding messaging, policy, and electoral strategy to win in the battleground states and districts that build majorities. And our Moderate Power Project is creating the megaphone for the moderate movement with key advocacy and infrastructure-building projects. This position will report to the Senior Director of Communications and work closely with the Executive Vice President.
As the Executive Coordinator, a typical day might include…
Managing schedules, overseeing preparations for meetings, and managing logistics for the Senior Director of Communications and Executive Vice President, as well as providing background research in preparation for meetings and events, and ensuring appropriate follow-up;
Coordinating travel arrangements including booking transportation and lodging and providing pre-travel logistical briefing materials;
Preparing expense reports and reimbursements and invoices;
Tracking outreach to key stakeholders as part of our ongoing policy, political, and messaging campaigns;
Tracking and documenting press mentions and adding them to the website;
Supporting the logistics of events, both online and in-person in Washington. Requires working directly with Third Way staff, event participants, attendees, and vendors;
Assisting other team members in researching and contributing to communications products on request;
Proofreading documents, op-eds, threads, and press releases before release;
Staffing virtual and off-site events, including checking-in guests and liaising with Third Way staff and venue employees.
