About the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management 

The Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management is a school within the SC Johnson College of Business and associated with the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at Cornell University. The Dyson School consists of over 900 undergraduate students, 350 graduate students, and over 75 nationally and internationally known faculty and scholars in economics and business disciplines. If so, the Dyson School at Cornell University invites you to apply for the position of Executive Assistant to the Dean.

As the Executive Assistant to the Dean, you will play a pivotal role in the efficient and effective operation of the Dean’s Office. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive professional administrative support and project management to the Dean of the Dyson School, ensuring that the Dean's office runs smoothly. This position requires a high level of administrative experience, effective communication, independent judgment, along with strong analytical and decision-making skills as you handle duties of a sensitive and confidential nature with discretion. The professional in this position also must be detail-oriented, calm under pressure, able to multi-task and prioritize, and demonstrate sound organizational and technical skills. 

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support: You will facilitate interactions and communications within the Dyson School, the College of Business, and the broader Cornell community. Acting on behalf of the Dean, you will make routine decisions, manage the Dean’s calendar, and oversee logistical arrangements for meetings and travel. You will also handle accounts and budgeting, and act as the Dean’s liaison with key stakeholders, including donors, alumni, students/families, and university officials.  The executive assistant initiates, drafts, edits, and finalizes key documents, including but not limited to correspondence, reports, presentations, and meeting minutes. This role coordinates and oversees the Dean's complex travel, including logistics, accommodations, and expenses for national and international engagements. You will also provide administrative support to the Dean's various committees and coordinate with key stakeholders for School-related events and functions.

Project Management: You will manage projects from concept to implementation, ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders. Your role will involve coordinating with the Dean’s direct reports, monitoring issues and deadlines, and ensuring that major decisions are made efficiently. Project management will include the development and management a comprehensive tracking system to ensure timely decision-making by the leadership team, including preparing necessary materials, coordinating stakeholder input, alerting the Dean of key deadlines, and resolving obstacles to prompt resolution of major issues.

Other Responsibilities: You will also participate in various projects, tasks, and trainings as assigned, ensuring compliance with university requirements.
