Event Sales Manager
The Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County (NHMLAC) include the Natural History Museum in Exposition Park, La Brea Tar Pits in Hancock Park, and the William S. Hart Museum in Newhall. The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking an Event Sales Manager for our Special Events department. The Event Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth through proactive sales strategies and relationship management for our museum event spaces and filming locations at Natural History Museum in Exposition Park and La Brea Tar Pits in Hancock Park. This role requires a strategic sales professional who can build strong client relationships, maximize venue utilization, and meet ambitious revenue targets while ensuring alignment with museum policies and industry standards. The Manager will develop and implement a business plan based on market analysis and evolving trends. The ideal candidate will be a results-driven sales professional with a passion for creating memorable experiences and a proven track record of meeting and exceeding revenue targets.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed annual revenue targets for each location, Natural History Museum and La Brea Tar Pits
Maintain an active pipeline of prospective clients and opportunities
Conduct venue tours and consultations for potential clients
Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and film production companies
Serve as the primary point of contact for all sales inquiries
Develop and maintain a database of clients, planners, and industry influencers
Track and report on sales activities, pipeline, and revenue forecasts
Analyze market trends and competitor offerings to inform pricing strategies
Work closely with the Director of Events to set and achieve annual revenue targets
Work with the Director of Special Events to network at industry and sales mixers, such as Fete, The Clique, Los Angeles Tourism Convention Board, Studios, and other after-5 networking happenings.
Maintain comprehensive booking calendars for all museum venues and spaces
Track and manage soft holds, hard holds, and contracted events across all properties
Implement and enforce hold policies including challenge procedures
Work closely Special Events Manager and Coordinator to ensure alignment between sales promises and event execution capabilities
Partner with Coordinator to ensure smooth transition from sales to execution for private events
Participate in regular team meetings to share insights, address challenges, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
