About the role

Description

  

Responsible for separation/evaporation/drying of milk.  Job duties include separating, standardization, pasteurization, evaporation, drying, record keeping, cleaning and sanitation of equipment/production facility; and other duties, as assigned or instructed. These functions are directly, or indirectly, linked to the safest production of the highest quality milk production possible and support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Safe Quality Food (SQF) System as defined in the SQF Code.  Employee shall complete all Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety and Food Security Training as required by Local, State, Federal and Humboldt Creamery. Complete all duties in a manner that is consistent with all aspects of Company Safety Rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF). All staff shall report food safety & quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. Absence Provision – Trained Operator/CDFA licensed pasteurizer


 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, climb stairs, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand; use hands to fingers; handle objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds.  


In this position, the employee will   work with and around others; in a production environment; in areas of   moderate noise levels; and around mechanical, electrical, and pressurized   equipment. Employee must be capable of   planning priorities of daily duties to best facilitate production and   operations. The work is fast paced. Trouble shooting and problem solving is a   requirement of this position. 

Requirements

Ensure the highest quality product by properly performing all required procedures, as instructed and trained.  Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Computer usage – requires selecting, monitoring and assuring that the proper product is produced and CIP (cleaning in place) activities are being performed appropriately and Microsoft Word.

• Requires a California Department of Food Agriculture’s license for General Pasteurization, Appendix N Testing trained and qualified.

• Quality control – perform quality checks i.e. verify fat/moisture levels, pre-start checklist, pre-start sanitation

• Verification of CCP’s.

• Keep work area clean and orderly

• Able to climb stairs in order to perform atomizer hook up.

• Must be able to follow both written and oral directions given. 

• Cleaning and Sanitation: The employee must be capable of cleaning and sanitizing equipment.

• Perform appropriate process changes to keep processes properly operating and in control. 

• Communicate with supervisors and managers on all Food Safety and production issues.

• Safely and effectively perform product line hook-ups.

• Ability to work independently, and with others.

• Perform other duties and job tasks, as assigned and instructed.
