Equity Research, Senior Analyst - Metals & Mining

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an Equity Research, Senior Analyst. In this position you will provide primary equity research coverage of the Metals & Mining sector. Primary responsibilities include both managing and conducting the fundamental equity research process for the purpose of providing differentiated industry and stock-specific content, including building and maintaining financial estimates and stock recommendations for our institutional investor client base. Critical to the role will be communicating research findings to both internal stakeholders and our external client base via consistent dialogue and live meetings. The Senior Analyst will need to build strong relationships not only with Equity Research colleagues, but also with Equity Sales, Cash Trading, Derivatives, Wealth Management, and others.

The Senior Analyst will:

• Demonstrate expertise on all companies within the Metals & Mining sector, as well as related competitors, customers, suppliers, and any other relevant stakeholders
• Conduct and author research company and industry themes, trends, events, etc.
• Create and maintain company and industry models, financial statement projections, relevant databases and other quantitative foundations to the research process
• Attend company and industry events, cultivate relationships with covered and uncovered companies, and develop a network of industry contacts
• Communicate research conclusions with internal and external constituents
• Exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
• Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
• Lead a team of Research Analysts to execute research content
• Collaborate with internal team members to produce cross-sector and industry research content

This position is subject to FINRA Background Screening Requirements, including successful completion and clearing of a background check. Internal transfers are subject to comply with 17 CRF 240.17f-2 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and FINRA Bylaws, Article III, Section 3, which states that Associated Persons should not be subject to statutory disqualification. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening and are required to report certain incidents.

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of Securities Research experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
• 4+ years of management or leadership experience

Desired Qualifications:

• BS/BA or higher
• Direct sell-side experience of 10+ years covering Metals & Mining stocks
• 5+ years as lead analyst
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are critical
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including high level of proficiency in modeling
• Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) skills
• Strong writing skills and attention to detail
• Advanced understanding of financial statement analysis
• Advanced understanding of accounting principles in the capital markets industry
• Knowledge and understanding of investment tools such as Bloomberg or FactSet application
