About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Equipment Repair Manager in our Communications Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:
• Managing and leading a team of supervisors and technicians who primarily install and decommission police communication and other electronic equipment in VSP and User Agencies Requirements Committee (UARC) vehicles.
• Directing and supervising team leaders and the operation of the VSP Installation Facility.
• Updating Network Operations Center (NOC) tickets with UARC requests in a timely manner and maintaining logs and records for VSP/UARC vehicles.
• Directing the cross-training of subordinate staff and/or developing desk procedures to ensure continuity of operations.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge:
• Of supervisory principles and practices.
• Considerable knowledge and experience with automotive repair, emergency radio and lighting products, maintenance requirements, emergency vehicle equipment installation techniques and related equipment.
Skill:
• In using hand and power tools.
• In automotive diagnostic testing equipment.
• In operating computers and using MS Office Suite applications.
Ability:
• To supervise others.
• To oversee site operations.
• To prioritize and schedule work.
• To conduct vehicle inspections.
• To audit vehicle installations.
• To diagnose vehicle and equipment issues and properly repair.
• To track and reconcile inventory levels.
• To read and interpret repair manuals and other related documentation.
• To communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.
• To keep and maintain a variety of records.
• To process reports.
• To train others.
• Valid Virginia Driver’s License required.
• Previous experience or training in the electrical/electronic/automobile field.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Additional Considerations
• Forklift experience is preferred.
• Ability to operate a roll back type car carrier is preferred.
• Class A CDL/commercial is preferred.
