Job Summary

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment throughout Boone Memorial Hospital. This position performs a variety of housekeeping and environmental services duties, including cleaning patient care areas, surgical suites, offices, laboratories, and public spaces. The Environmental Services Technician plays a vital role in infection prevention, patient satisfaction, and overall hospital operations by ensuring cleanliness standards are consistently met. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to providing exceptional service while adhering to all safety and infection control guidelines.

Essential Functions

The Environmental Services Technician is expected to:

Clean patient rooms, nursing units, surgical areas, administrative offices, laboratory areas, waiting areas, and public restrooms.
Launder hospital linens as assigned.
Take daily inventory of linens throughout the hospital.
Use cleaning chemicals and disinfectants to sanitize equipment, furniture, floors, and other surfaces.
Vacuum carpets, polish floors, and maintain the appearance of hospital facilities.
Make beds, empty trash, and restock supplies as needed.
Collect soiled linens and distribute clean linens and hospital gowns to the appropriate departments.
Conduct daily inspections of equipment and report repair or replacement needs.
Report maintenance concerns to the supervisor or director.
Follow all safety, infection prevention, and environmental services protocols.
Provide exceptional service to patients, visitors, and fellow team members.

Qualifications

Previous hospital housekeeping experience preferred.
Hotel housekeeping experience preferred.
Janitorial or environmental services experience is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Valid West Virginia Driver's License preferred.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

Stand and walk for extended periods.
Perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
Bend, twist, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, push, and pull.
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
Use hands to handle tools, equipment, and supplies.
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, face masks, respirators, and other required safety gear.

Travel Requirements

Up to 15% travel may be required within West Virginia and surrounding areas.
