Summary
The international internship program at Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations is intended to provide college / university students and recent graduates from outside of the US the opportunity to use and develop skills they have learned in the classroom by working at our state-of-the-art production facility, and to provide experience and insight into the American culture.
Our internships are full-time positions (40 hrs/week). Candidates will be expected to be available to work during normal business hours (Monday – Friday; exact hours will vary by position and some positions might require work on Saturdays). To be eligible for the internship program, external candidates are required to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution or have graduated from one within the 6 months prior to the start date of the internship. Fluency in German and English language is necessary in this role. Candidates who do not meet these guidelines will not be considered. This position will start in August and end in December 2024.
Responsibilities
The Plant Infrastructure team provides support to the operation through construction project management, facility operations and Environmental programs. The intern position we are seeking will support the Environmental team in improvement of existing processes and ensuring compliance obligations are met.
• Evaluation of existing waste program and identifying potential improvements, such as new recycling/reuse programs and waste collection optimizations.
• Implementation of waste audits (internal and external) to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Support the creation and improvement of waste/recycling education programs.
Qualifications
Required
- Currently enrolled or recently graduated with Environmental Engineering or Environmental Studies related degree
- Ability to collect and analyze data in order to establish benchmarks and show improvements
- MS Office skills (Excel. PPT, Etc.)
Scope and Magnitude
Junior $18/hour
Senior $20/hour
Recent Graduate $24/hour
Master's Student $27/hour
2 days of paid time off per term
