Job Description Summary

**This position pays $25.00 per hour.

This position will assist in the Environmental Health division with conducting retail food inspections in Weld County and make recommendations regarding correction of specific non-compliance conditions. This position will also assist with communicable disease case investigations.

The ideal candidate will have experience or familiarity with conducting inspections of regulated facilities (retail food establishments, schools, childcare) and/or communicable disease case investigations, as well as experience or familiarity with interpreting and applying local, state, or federal rules and regulations to a variety of different circumstances. A proficiency in writing inspection or investigation reports is preferred. This job requires an ability to de-escalate conflict and to handle confidential and sensitive information. The ideal candidate will be able to work well with a variety of different people from varying cultural backgrounds, utilizing tools available to aid in communication. The ideal candidate will work closely with others on the Environmental Health Services Team to foster a strong team environment and will be comfortable working collaboratively to strengthen relationships that are essential for success.

This will be a flexible position between May 2025 - August 2025.

Job Description

 Environmental Health Assistance - 100%:

  • Conduct inspections and investigate the sanitary conditions for compliance for facilities and operations.
  • Write summary reports and appropriate correspondence.
  • Assist with communicable disease case investigations.
  • Adhere to County work hours, policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior.
  • Adhere to County policies governing the observation of confidentiality and the handling of confidential information.
  • Assume personal and professional responsibilities for his or her actions and activities.
  • Maintain professional relationships with County employees, customers and so forth.
  • Utilize a courteous, enthusiastic, open-minded, critical approach to policies and procedures within the profession.
  • Relate and apply knowledge acquired in the academic setting to the County setting.
  • Develop a self-awareness regarding attitudes, values, behavior patterns, and so forth that influence work.
  • Prepare for and utilize conferences and other opportunities of learning afforded in the County.
  • Be consistent and punctual in the submission of all work assignments to the supervisor/manager.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree - minimum completion of 60 hours from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 30 hours of science coursework (biology, environmental health, chemistry, or related).

This position is non- exempt compensation to determine FLSA status from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
