    Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Environmental Intern to join our team!

    What You'll Be Doing:

    • Air Permit Compliance and Reporting

      Assist in the development and management of compliance procedures at facility level (recordkeeping/training)

      Conduct emission inventories as required

      Kentucky Hazardous Waste (RCRA) Permitting

      Assist in the development RCRA permit applications and modifications

      Assist in agency inspections/permitting communications and negotiations

      Assist in development of facility specific compliance plans

      Assist in managing regulatory required sampling, analytical testing, and agency reporting

      Coordinate with contractors and other departments during the construction process

      Waste Management

      Assist in writing/revising Hazardous Waste related procedures.

      Monitor and inspect construction areas for appropriate or compliant hazardous waste disposal or disposition in authorized containers or methods. 

      Assist in drafting scope statement for any hazardous waste subcontract necessary in coordination with the construction field procurement group, and may serve as a   technical representative for any awarded subcontractor (e.g. HAZMAT Transporter, if required).

      Work closely with the project environmental department and provides support as required on environmental issues and preparing Hazardous Waste Management documents (e.g.  Review regulations, permit issues, procedures and other documents, providing input as appropriate).

      Assist in administering waste in the 90 day Storage Area on a daily basis in compliance with 49 CFR, 29 CFR, BGAD R 200-1, CDRL D012, Hazardous Waste/Material Management Procedure and 90 Day Storage Area Procedure.

      Assist in ordering and maintaining adequate containers for hazardous waste storage, spill kits/supplies and appropriate fire suppression/PPE/eyewash supplies for the 90-Days Storage Area. 

      Assist in performing initial characterization, containerization, labeling, storage and movement of hazardous waste from the 90-Day Storage Area to BGAD permitted storage.

    What Required Skills You'll Bring:

    • Incumbent must be enrolled in an Environmental or related curriculum at an accredited college or university and have completed at least one year of studies.

      Demonstrated oral, written and interpersonal communications skills.

      Familiarity with MS Office

      Self-starter that can implement and follow written procedures/guidelines.

      Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities.  This position may be required to work long hours, including weekends and holidays.

      Must be a US Citizen.  The applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to be placed in a Public Trust Position.  

      Drug screening and background check required.

    Special Job Requirements

    • BGCAPP is subject to the Army Regulations (AR 50-6 Chemical Surety and AR 190-59 Chemical Agent Security Program) which govern persons performing work under the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP) and Unescorted Access Program (UAP).  Depending on the work performed and the access granted a government security investigation and other physical requirements may be mandated.  Eligibility to be placed in a CPRP or UAP position requires US citizenship and the ability to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Local Credit Check.  (NACLC).

      BGCAPP is a Drug Free Workplace.  All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment.

      This position may also require use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and personnel must pass a respirator fit test and pulmonary function test.

      Lifting/Carrying:  Occasionally, up to 50 lbs.  Climbing: Occasionally.  Bending/Kneeling:  Occasionally.  Sitting:  Infrequent.  Walking/Standing: Frequently.  Hearing:  Able to hear audible alarms.  Vision:  Able to see/read/understand warning lights/signs.
