PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The primary function is to help a culture identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or product/property damage using safety standards, best management practices, analytical techniques along with behavior-based safety programs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
· Act as the site Emergency Coordinator
· Lead all first aid reporting with follow up of corrective actions
· Responsible for Environmental reporting
· Oversee chemical approval as well as documenting chemicals into the website
· Participate/Lead kaizen events and team projects
· Assist corporate EHS and site leadership in developing health and safety programs and procedures
· Provide support to manufacturing staff with focus on safety awareness, prevention, and training
· Oversee Safety Vending services
· Conduct safety tours with all new hires, temps, and visitors as needed
· Lead all OSHA/TOSHA visits while in communication with Corporate EHS
· Must maintain all required Corporate documentation
· Must schedule and execute annual hearing exams
· Lead safety committee
· Maintain division programs
· Ensure that all site-specific programs/procedures are current and up to date
· Schedule all waste removal with appropriate documentation
· Report all recordable injuries, fires, chemical spills to specific corporate group with reports
· Execute all safety 4-blockers
· Ensure that corporate safety concern goals are met weekly
· Order all first aid supplies and new hire supplies
· Oversee all site permits are current and fees are paid on time
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School diploma or GED required
· Bachelors Degree preferred
· 2 – 3 years of safety and environmental experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment
· OSHA 30 Certificate preferred
· Understanding of OSHA standards for general industry
· Knowledge of EPA regulations specific to emissions, wastewater, and waste management in industrial operations
· Understanding of chemical handling, labeling and storage
· Familiarity with hazardous waste disposal procedures
· Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding and ergonomics in repetitive task settings
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
· Industrial Hygiene-exposure assessments for dust, fumes, noise & vibration typical to manufacturing environments.
· Emergency Response & Preparedness-Incident command system (ICS) knowledge especially for fires, spills and equipment failures
· Sustainability Initiatives-Experience with energy efficiency, recycling programs and environmental impact reduction manufacturing processes.
