The Enterprise Data Quality Lead will drive the bank's data quality strategy by developing and operationalizing a comprehensive data quality framework. The role will define standards and controls to ensure that data is accurate, consistent, complete, and reliable. This role will also translate data governance policies into actionable requirements and collaborate across cross-functional teams to identify and remediate high-impact data issues. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management to improve data-driven decision-making and reduce data risk.

Responsibilities

  • Framework Development: Design and implement a comprehensive enterprise data quality framework that defines the minimum standards, processes, and controls for data validation, cleansing, and monitoring across the bank.
  • Business Case Development: Quantify the business impact of data quality by building strong business cases for improvement projects. Highlight how improved data quality reduces operational risk, enhances compliance, and increases efficiency.
  • Standards and Metrics: Define and enforce data quality rules (profiling, validation, cleansing) and establish key quality metrics. Collaborate with data stewards and owners to monitor these metrics and continuously improve data trust and integrity.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between IT, data owners, and lines of business to ensure data governance and quality requirements are implemented. Work closely with data owners and stewards to identify high-impact data issues, drive cross-team data quality initiatives, and align on priorities.
  • Data Quality Monitoring: Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track data quality trends (e.g. accuracy, completeness, timeliness). Use these reports to highlight issues and inform business stakeholders, driving accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Issue Resolution: Provide guidance on root cause analysis on data anomalies and coordinate remediation efforts as needed. Collaborate with IT and business partners to implement fixes and process changes, ensuring long term prevention of data quality problems.
  • Governance Alignment: Operationalize data governance policies by embedding data quality requirements into data integration pipelines, applications, and business processes. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations in all data quality initiatives.
  • Training and Guidance: Provide guidance and training on data quality best practices. Educate stakeholders and data stewards on data management standards and tools, acting as a resource and liaison to promote a culture of data stewardship and governance.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent experience. Specialty: Computer Science, Management Information Systems. (Required)

Master's Degree or the equivalent experience. Specialty: Computer Science, Management Information Systems. (Preferred)

Required Experience

  • 8 or more years experience in data governance, data management, or data quality roles, with a strong track record of delivering enterprise data quality initiatives and designing and implementing data governance and quality frameworks.Ā 
  • 6 or more years hands-on experience with leading data quality and governance platforms (Collibra Data Intelligence, Alation, Informatica, Talend, IBM InfoSphere, etc.).Ā 

Preferred Experience

  • 6 or more years experience in the banking or financial services industry including experience with regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR, BCBS239, CCPA) and how they impact data governance.
  • 3 or more years experience with enterprise data catalog or metadata management tools (e.g. Collibra, Alation, Microsoft Purview) and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau).Ā 

Certifications

Professional certifications in data management or governance (e.g. DAMA CDMP, Informatica Data Quality Developer, Collibra Ranger). (Preferred)
