Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing AvionX Computing and Networking organization is seeking an Engineering Project Manager – Defense Mission Computing (DMC) in Hazelwood, MO.

This role provides project/engineering leadership to a multi-disciplined engineering team in support of existing and future computing solutions for multiple IR&D projects, current/future aerospace, and defense projects/programs.

The Boeing AvionX DMC team produces computing solutions for deploying multi-level security solutions, networking and open architecture embedded processing products that are applicable to a wide variety of manned and unmanned airborne platforms across the aerospace and defense sector. The AvionX DMC team is a large multi-discipline team working together to design, procure, integrate and produce embedded avionics solutions for multiple product lines.

The Boeing AvionX DMC team also produces the software architecture, software infrastructure, middleware and software support tools for teams utilizing these avionics products. The AvionX DMC team leverages its expertise to rapidly develop prototyping products, capability demonstrations and sustain/maintain production products in use or under contract for a wide variety of customers (T-7A, MQ-25, and the F/A-18 Block 3 upgrade) and potential customers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures, and sets operational goals.

  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements.

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.

  • Establishes Program Management Best Practices (PMBP) program goals and establishes a PMBP improvement plan.

  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location option.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Experience coordinating the operational aspects of ongoing projects, and serving as liaison between project and team, finance, planning, scheduling and management

  • Experience Earned Value Management System (EVMS)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience achieving desired outcomes on projects, on-time and within budget.

  • Experience delivering project deliverables, project accounting and appraisal, and optimize the contribution of the people involved.

  • Knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Engineering departments/disciplines (e.g., design, test, software, technology, avionics). Knowledge of the interaction between departments/disciplines and how their products/processes affect one another and impact non-engineering processes (e.g., Operations, Logistics, Business).

  • Knowledge and understanding of the methodology and processes associated with risk management (including Technology Readiness Assessments), opportunity management, and issues management.
