Brown and Caldwell has an opportunity for an Engineering Intern to spend a summer working with our Civil/Wastewater/Water/Stormwater team to support our Richmond, VA office. We are seeking a motivated, achievement-oriented individual who wants to spend the summer gaining practical, hands-on experience outside of the classroom. Detailed Description: As a student intern, you will perform routine engineering support duties requiring professional training but little or no experience. You may be assigned, under close supervision, to simple engineering data analysis, data assessment, data entry and formatting and organizing information for reports, in support of water, wastewater, and/or stormwater infrastructure projects. You may also perform basic CAD or GIS input or modifications, and also provide basic project support such as formatting and distributing meeting notes; project filing, field site visits, and other general support of project engineers. The work may also include participating in field work, engineering design tasks such as providing input to design drawings and specifications, and construction related engineering tasks such as reviewing contractor submittals and answering construction related inquiries from the contractor

  • Work schedule and location: Hybrid work schedule: 3 to 4 days at the Richmond, Virginia office, 1 – 2 days remote.    

Desired Skills and Experience:   

To qualify for an internship, you must be enrolled in a full-time program (minimum nine credit hours per semester) seeking a degree in engineering, science, geology, or a related field. You also must be in good standing and carry an overall GPA of at least 3.0 in your core curriculum, as well as a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.   

What Must Our Candidate Have? (Required)   

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills 
  • Valid driver’s license/good driving record 

Salary Range: The hourly pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.  These ranges may be modified in the future.  

Location A: 
Hourly $18.40 - $25.20  

Location B:   
Hourly $20.20 – $27.70  

Location C: 
Hourly $22.00 – $30.20
