Job purpose

An Engineering Co-Op is responsible for supporting the designing, integrating, and/or improving manufacturing systems or related processes. Additionally, the Engineering Co-Op will support in ensuring manufacturing process, equipment, and products align with safety standard and legal regulations. The student will work along side the engineering team and report to the Engineering Manager.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluating existing manufacturing processes and identifying areas for improvement
  • Diagnosing and proposing solutions to existing manufacturing process issues
  • Developing detailed layouts for equipment, processes, and workflow
  • Developing new processes, equipment, and products
  • Developing and implementing cost-saving measures and quality control systems
  • Ensuring manufacturing processes, equipment, and products align with safety standards and legal regulations
  • Maintaining activity documentation and preparing reports
  • Build and perform preventative maintenance program
  • Assist in set-up, testing, validation and run of new equipment
  • Build and maintain spare parts list
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What we’re looking for

  • Actively pursuing degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Experience with working in a plant environment with high levels of automation.
  • Experience in trouble shooting/diagnosing PLC error codes preferably Siemens is a plus.
  • Experience using CAD, data analysis programs and related software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • High level of technical expertise.
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills
