What You Will Do:
The General Engineer, Project Engineering will work under the direction of senior engineers to assist in improving designs, manufacturing, and engine test processes for legacy and new production Military APU products within the Fighter & Mobility Auxiliary Power Unit and Turbojet business group, with a keen focus on improving cost, quality, and efficiency while maintaining or improving safety and reliability. This position requires a mechanical background in gas turbine engine design, assembly, operation, and test that is typically obtained through advanced education combined with practical hands-on hardware experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Project planning, scheduling, and progress reporting for assigned work tasks
Assist with Project risk identification and mitigation tracking
Work to develop designs and implement process improvements to increase manufacturing and test efficiencies, mitigate rework/repair and minimize production downtime across production engine model line
Execute and maintain documentation to support configuration management changes to include creation of applicable drawing redlines, approvals, and tracking of modifications
Engage with Procurement, Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Quality to promote the timely, cost effective, and high-quality delivery of hardware through the established Supply Chain
Work with cross-functional teams including IPT’s, manufacturing, assembly, test personnel to meet task / program milestones and drive operational success
Promote a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with all EH&S regulations
Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering,
2+ yrs of engineering experience or demonstrated Internships, capstone projects, or manufacturing assembly work showing hands -on testing, modeling, integration or 1-3 years prior relevant aerospace experience
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Travel 10% max – to corporate/module centers, customers, supplier visits
Qualifications We Prefer:
CAD (UG), (MS) Project, (MS) PowerPoint and (MS) Excel experience
Planning, multi-tasking and meeting schedule, budgets and working in a team environment
Clear written and verbal communication skills for concise reports and technical meetings
Problem solving and curiosity to explore root causes and propose evidence based corrective actions
