Job Summary:

The Enforcement Actions Support Specialist will be supervised by and report directly to the Director of Enforcement Actions.

The ideal candidate will provide a variety of support functions such as responding to inquiries related to educator discipline, assisting in managing case files, and all administrative tasks for the Enforcement Actions unit. They will coordinate all logistics and provide technical assistance for the Professional Practices Advisory Committee (PPAC) meetings and support PPAC members as needed.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

• Collaborates and serves as a liaison for respondents/applicants, Local Education Agencies, the Investigative Unit, the Attorney General’s Office, and Law Enforcement agencies

• This includes, setting up meeting space, preparing meeting material, running audio and visual (AV) equipment, and providing assistance during proceedings

• Maintain the PPAC calendar on the website up to date, upload hearing notices and agendas, and other necessary documents to the website and to Simbli

• Required to attend all PPAC hearings in person, take meeting minutes, and record accurate rulings made by the PPAC on all cases

• Assists in creating and managing accounts for committee members to access the Board’s e-board solutions software, Simbli

• Responsible for communicating with the aforementioned by phone, mail, and email on various PPAC matters

• This includes requesting court records, police records, or other vital documents needed for hearings

• Draft and disseminate correspondence to subjects of PPAC and meet monthly deadlines

• Responsible for coordinating and providing technical assistance for all PPAC hearings

• Establish and manage both physical and digital files for PPAC respondent/applicant

• Prepares reports outlining the various cases overseen by the Board and the PPAC

• Organize extensive legal documents and redact sensitive information

• Track timelines of open cases

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

• Comprehensive knowledge and experience with the Arizona teacher certification application process

• Experience as a law enforcement administrative assistant or similar work experience

• The State Board of Education Policies and Procedures

• The State Board Administrative Rules and Title 41

• Title 15 and the K-12 education system

• The Administrative Procedures Act

• Open Meeting Laws

Skill in:

• Highly proficient in general office equipment including fax/copy machines, running virtual meetings, and providing audio/visual support in board rooms

• Interpersonal skills to provide excellent customer service and interact with outside agencies, educators, parents, school, district personnel, and other constituents

• Advanced skill in word/data processing including in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Adobe Acrobat
