Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an Entry-level Electrical Wiring Technician to provide aviation electrical wiring systems support for our NAVAIR customer in Lexington Park/Patuxent River, MD.
In this position you will have the opportunity to be part of the Navy’s world class Electrical Wiring Team, developing critical capabilities to support the fleet. This position is in the customer’s Wiring Systems Branch, of the Power and Energy Division, of the Propulsion and Power Engineering Department, of the Air Systems Group of the Naval Air Systems Command. The scope of the work performed has direct impact on Aircraft Electrical Wiring System performance, operation and support cost, operational suitability, safety, reliability, and readiness. The affected Electrical Wiring Programs are valued in the multimillion-dollar range annually.
What you will do… (under the direction of the Wiring Systems Branch Head, Project Lead and Wiring Systems Engineer(s))
- Specific duties of an Electrical Wiring technician on the NAVAIR Wiring Systems Team include aircraft Fiber Optic, Electrical Wiring and Interconnect Systems (EWIS) and equipment installation electrical engineering technical services in support of: new acquisition, aircraft modifications, design implementation, airworthiness evaluations, training and wiring and equipment installation standards compliance.
- Participates in the initial requirements definition and design development of new acquisitions, major modifications, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), evaluates and provides inputs to specifications, designs, processes, tooling, parts and materials, quality control, and production techniques. Reviews performance specifications and wire data packages for adequacy of application.
- Monitors, identifies, and investigates adverse trends affecting developmental, production, and fleet aircraft wiring and equipment installation standards compliance, quality, reliability, and basic mission performance. Document and report findings to the NAVAIR Wiring Systems Branch Head and cognizant activities.
- Actively supports Power and Energy Division engineers, aircraft program offices, all levels of aircraft maintenance, project offices, fleet activities and contractor facilities in issues involving all aspects of aircraft wiring and equipment installations.
- Conducts technical briefings and presentations to branch and division personnel.
- Assist in conducting electrical wiring assessments on entire aircraft or systems to determine design, material, and installation adequacy to perform the intended mission.
- Assist in analyzing the results of electrical wiring assessments, drawings, and specifications that require the correction of deficiencies.
- Recommend changes to the Wiring Systems Branch Head project lead, and engineering.
Qualifications
What you will need:
- 0 years with BS/BA, four years no degree
- Electrical Power and Wiring Systems experience with F/A-18 and E/A-18 aircraft, preferably related to aircraft and aircraft-related systems; however, electrical power and wiring experience in other fields such as utilities and transportation (e.g. locomotive, automotive, shipboard) is acceptable.
- Knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of aircraft electrical and wiring systems maintenance that enable you to serve as an expert in maintenance practices and troubleshooting of aircraft Electrical Power and Wiring Systems.
- Capability to analyze and interpret aircraft schematics and technical publications.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, which requires US citizenship.

- Ability to execute and handle technically challenging Aircraft Electrical Wiring System programs.
- Ability to perform trade-offs between cost and capability as a routine requirement.
- Excellent teamwork and leadership skills.
- Hands-on experience with F/A-18 and E/A-18 aircraft maintenance procedures.
