We are seeking an entry-level Electrical Systems & ECU Test Engineer to join our Farmington Hills, MI team.

This role is responsible for developing electrical systems supporting key domains such as electrification, autonomous driving, connected services, security, and FOTA (Firmware Over-The-Air). Key areas of responsibility include body electronics systems such as Access/Intelligent Key, FOTA, and Engine Start & Stop systems, which enhance customer convenience and user experience. The role also involves managing and ensuring quality, cost, and timely delivery in collaboration with suppliers, regional cross-functional teams, and the global Nissan Research & Development (R&D) team.

A Day in the Life:

  • Electrical System Development: Responsible for developing electrical systems to meet customer and stakeholder requirements and achieving program targets for cost, quality, development, and delivery timing.

  • Requirements Definition: Define and develop customer and stakeholder requirements, create system requirements, and design electrical systems to fulfill these needs.

  • Feasibility Verification: Verify technical, commercial, and strategic feasibilities with the responsible parties for each component.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and the Nissan R&D team to ensure compliance with regulations and meet customer needs.

  • Regional Representation: Represent the Americas region for the responsible system, providing regional requirements to the Nissan R&D team.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel & PowerPoint).

  • Proficient in leveraging AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot.

  • Ability to work independently and proactively, providing support across departments beyond direct responsibilities.

  • Experience in electrical design and/or testing in the automotive industry.

  • Understanding of automotive electronics and vehicle communication networks such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.

  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering methods and approaches.

  • Experience using tools required for vehicle electronic development, such as CAN tools (CANoe / CANalyzer) and oscilloscopes.

  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 0 to 2 years of directly related professional-level engineering experience.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Physical Requirements:

Travel:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

  • Up to 15% of domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Overtime:

  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary to complete the job.
