Purpose
The Environmental Sciences Lab (ESL) engineering team at ARL:UT is seeking a motivated individual interested in applied research to aid in the development and field deployment of underwater acoustic acquisition systems in support of defense-related and research applications.
Responsibilities
Work offshore to deploy/recover subsea systems at sea from offshore vessel / work boats and trouble shoot and repair equipment, as necessary.
Assist with preparations for offsite operations.
Fabrication and maintenance of scientific equipment.
Procurement and tracking of inventory. Advanced document support.
Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school graduation or GED
Seven years of related experience.
Able to interpret manuals/schematics.
Experience with basic lab equipment
Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to articulate clearly and concisely
Self-motivated, quick learner, results-oriented and a clear focus on quality
Willingness/ability to perform frequent domestic/foreign travel up to 30 percent.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks and managing their time. The position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving skills and excellent judgment. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with all groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance.
US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Associates of Applied Science in Electronics or certification in technical trade.
More than seven years of work experience in an electronics-related technical trade
Soldering experience with through hole and surface mount applications
Ability to create test procedures to validate and ensure that electrical design requirements of products are met.
Hands on electro-mechanical fabrication experience.
