Electrical Manufacturing Engineer III

Honeybee Robotics is seeking an Electrical Manufacturing Engineer III to join our team in Altadena, CA. The ideal candidate will play a key role in developing, evaluating, and improving industrial manufacturing methods for high-precision aerospace assemblies. The position requires expertise in product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards to successfully construct complex assemblies. In this role, the candidate will report to the Operations Manager and work closely with the Quality Assurance Team. 

Responsibilities:

• Manages the manufacturing process for low-volume, intricate printed circuit board assemblies and wiring harnesses, both internally and through external suppliers.
• Generates shop order routings, selects vendors, and oversees fabrication from engineering release to component delivery.
• Evaluates quotations, makes supplier selections or recommendations, and coordinates delivery schedules.
• Cultivates and sustains relationships with external vendors, gaining insight into their timelines and capabilities.
• Collaborates with vendors and QA teams to certify vendor capabilities and qualify new processes.
• Examines engineering drawings for complex printed circuit boards and circuit board assemblies.
• Contributes to Manufacturing Readiness Review, Material Review Board, and non-conformance dispositioning.
• Offers suggestions for enhancements to in-house equipment and processes to optimize manufacturing timelines.
• Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and relevant information to streamline production processes.
• Develops inspection and verification processes for boards received from suppliers.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Over 5 years of experience in engineering or manufacturing.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics and layout files in alignment with IPC Standards.
• In-depth knowledge of PCB fabrication processes, soldering techniques, PCB cleanliness, staking and conformal coating, and harness assembly processes.
• Familiarity with Altium Designer or a comparable CAD tool.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in the use of aerospace-grade low outgassing materials for PCB and harnesses.
• Familiarity with inspection methods such as X-ray and DPA.
• Experience in creating Harness Drawings in compliance with IPC-WHMA-A-620/NASA STD 8739.4.
• Knowledge of IPC 6012 standards.
• Green Belt or Black Belt Certification in LEAN Six Sigma or relevant experience.
