The Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEI) is seeking an Electrical Field Engineer to assist PSFEI clients in the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of facility electrical systems.

The Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute is a front-facing, non-academic unit that has had a rich tradition of providing facility engineering advisory services since our founding in 1947. PSFEI is part of the College of Engineering at Penn State University Park; however, we touch the lives of thousands of people in all 67 counties of Pennsylvania and across our nation through the facility engineering, education program, facility condition assessment, and energy management services that we provide. Through our success, we have grown to a workforce of over 40 engineers, specialists, programmers, and administrative staff who are located throughout the Commonwealth. We are committed to helping our clients optimize the operation of their facilities and supporting our staff in achieving a high-level of satisfaction in carrying forth this mission.

Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing facility electrical design documentation and providing technical recommendations to ensure programmatic requirements and compliance with codes and standards are met.

• Advising clients on solving operational problems and providing troubleshooting, corrective action recommendations, and general guidance on technical inquiries.

• Performing electrical engineering studies, such as power quality, load, and power system studies.

• Performing electrical preventative maintenance and testing services on low- and medium-voltage distribution equipment, such as switchgear, circuit breakers, transformer, relays, and cabling.

• Managing projects from initiation through planning and execution by communicating and coordinating with internal and external project stakeholders.

• Authoring reports that are clear, concise, and actionable to provide clients with a summary of services executed, technical results, and follow-up recommendations.

• Educating client facility management and technical personnel by providing on-the-job training, developing presentations, and delivering multi-day short courses and half-day workshops virtually or in-person.
