The Laboratory Electrical Engineer II will be responsible for the design and construction of laboratory facilities used to simulate the real-world environments that Collins Aerospace products will encounter in everyday use. Products tested by the Laboratory include aircraft components and Environmental Control Systems, jet engine fuel pumps, satellite thermal management system, propeller system, and Electronic Engine Controls.
What You Will Do
- Design, specification, procurement, and fabrication oversight of electrical power equipment and services
- Manage the installation and check-out of electrical systems
- Design electric motor and drive control systems, electric heaters (50-1000kW), facility controls, 3-phase power electronics and distribution systems, temperature control, ladder logic.
- Design product interface wiring harnesses
- Design systems for use in ANSI/NFPA Class I, Div. 1 hazardous locations
- Design, software programming, configuration, and tuning of Data Acquisition and Control Systems
- Specification of measurement techniques, sensors, instrumentation, computing, or other special test equipment
- Familiarity with NEC/NPFA 70 and 70E arc-flash analysis
- Analog and digital circuit design

- Engineering R&D and product validation operations for aerospace products and systems
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience creating electrical engineering drawings, schematics, Microsoft Visio, AutoCAD, or Unigraphics
- Familiarity with LabVIEW, MATLAB, or other data acquisition environments.
- Knowledge of PLC systems
