Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
This position exists to optimize the utilization of physical assets and technology resources to manufacture the highest quality products in the most efficient and effective manner, reduce costs and increase operating profit in HDPE1. The Electrical Engineer increases productivity by integrating plant assets, personnel, technology, energy, effective maintenance, instrumentation, production, raw material handling, and material flow processes. The Electrical Engineer will also assist in daily plant operations by interfacing and coordinating activities with plant personnel. Ensure improvement projects, data review, and operational objectives are completed. Information systems, MCCs, DCS and PI workbook are providing monthly, daily, and other reports. All while conforming to safe and healthful working conditions, ensuring environmental, health, and safety regulations and company requirements are met.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Maintenance & Equipment Reliability: Provide electrical maintenance support to HDPE1 to ensure smooth operation, high equipment reliability, and compliance with state and federal environmental regulations. Responsibilities include planning and executing preventative maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, supporting electrical testing, material procurement, technician support, and maintaining historical maintenance data. Collaborate with Operations to identify equipment criticality, maintain backup systems for critical assets, and minimize process interruptions by applying industry best practices, benchmarking, and abnormal analysis. Maintain historical data in MMS/AS400 systems and support major maintenance events, including turnaround planning and execution.
Equipment Improvement & Engineering Coordination: Utilize recognized process improvement techniques and analytical tools to assess equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Develop and present reports to support the implementation of enhancements, ensuring all process safety management (PSM) and environmental requirements are met. Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure improvements align with best engineering practices and are effectively executed. Support capital improvement planning and control maintenance and project budgets, ensuring spending aligns with cost targets and financial guidelines.
Leadership & Product Delivery Support: Lead and facilitate collaboration with HDPE1 Operations and other departments to resolve equipment and process abnormalities, improve plant reliability, and enhance product quality. Anticipate operational needs and serve as a problem-solver to address discrepancies, customer complaints, and quality-related issues, ensuring consistent and timely delivery of high-quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations.
