This Electrical Engineer, Digital role will primarily be responsible for the development of digital control systems used within the GE HealthCare Magnetic Resonance (MR) system. The successful candidate will join the MR Patient Experience group and interface with a global team to design, test and implement patient transport and handling systems as part of new product introductions. The candidate will leverage knowledge of digital design techniques and communication standards to ensure a quality product.

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

• Write detailed functional specifications that document newly created designs and support product introduction.
• Provide technical support to team throughout product development and implementation process.
• Test and verify hardware to ensure that they meet specifications and requirements, by recording and analyzing test data.
• Model, build, test, and modify product prototypes using working models or theoretical models constructed with simulation.
• Lend technical expertise to Installed Base teams to support design fixes and customer escalations.
• Develop VHDL code to support FPGA-based designs; be proficient in simulating and debugging designs.
• Provide input requirements to software team to develop low-level drivers for communication links.
• Select hardware and material, assuring compliance with specifications and product requirements.
• Engage in all phases of new product introduction: concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support.
• Stay current with knowledge and skills to keep up with rapid advancements in FPGA/communication technology.
• Identify and develop new opportunities to leverage Strategic Sourcing objectives and Common Technology initiatives in the MR product line.

Required Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering [or Computer Engineering with HW focus] or equivalent experience (defined as a High School Diploma/GED and 5 years relevant work experience).
• Experience or knowledge in digital design and control.
• Demonstrated experience in VHDL designs and simulation tools (Altera, ModelSim).
• Working knowledge of project management processes and procedures.
• Experience with typical electrical test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.
