Role Description

The EHR Systems Program Manager is responsible for leading system integrations, managing AthenaHealth configurations, and supporting program launches. This role focuses on enhancing documentation infrastructure, ensuring compliance, and optimizing workflows across clinical and operational teams. The EHR Systems Program Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Clinical Operations, Revenue Cycle Management, Compliance, and Product, to support EHR functionality and improve efficiencies.

This role is ideal for an experienced AthenaHealth expert who thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role will initially report to the EHR Systems Administrator. 

 

About the Role

EHR Configuration & System Optimization

• Configure AthenaHealth encounter plans, templates, and workflows to align with new programs and contract requirements.
• Manage and implement integrations between Athena and external systems to streamline workflows.
• Maintain user access and role configurations, ensuring appropriate security measures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to EHR functionality, coordinating with AthenaHealth support as needed.

Implementation & Program Launch Support

• Serve as the primary technical lead for EHR-related components of new program implementations.
• Work closely with Clinical Operations and Product teams to ensure smooth integration of new services within Athena.
• Develop implementation timelines and support change management efforts for clinical and administrative teams.
• Conduct testing and validation of new configurations before deployment.

Data Management & Reporting

• Develop and maintain reports in Athena to support operational decision-making, including clinical documentation, billing compliance, and performance metrics.
• Ensure accurate and timely data entry to meet payer and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Generate data extracts and customized reports as needed for internal and external stakeholders.

Compliance & Security

• Ensure all EHR configurations comply with HIPAA, all applicable federal and state regulatory requirements, including Meaningful Use, health plan contract requirements and other relevant standards.
• Perform regular audits on system configurations and workflows to maintain compliance.
• Collaborate with the Compliance team to address system vulnerabilities and security risks.

Training & User Support

• Provide ongoing support and training assistance with Athenahealth workflows and best practices for clinicians, CHWs, and administrative staff.
